Pizza is a true institution in American food culture, and particularly in New York City. In fact, finding the best pizza in town is a delicious hobby among tourists and locals alike. The restaurant’s so-called 24K pizza can become just that. At the moment it is already the most expensive pizza in the city.
Since last November, the Industry Kitchen restaurant (70 South St, New York 10005) has been preparing a $2,000 pizza, that is, $200 a slice. Baptized as 24K, its high price is due to the fact that it is made with precisely 24-carat gold sheets.
The preparation of this pizza is expensive from the culinary and economic point of view, so it is necessary to make a reservation 48 hours in advance. The chef of this restaurant, Braulio Bunay, has declared that the pizza is “extremely delicious” and that it is perfect for those days of low spirits and that the body asks for satiating food.
In addition to gold foil, the 24K pizza is made with other luxury ingredients such as Osetra caviar, French white truffle or delicious foie gras. This recipe is completed with a base of squid ink and Stilton cheese. The culmination are rose petals.
