The Generalitat of Catalonia will request authorization from the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) to apply the curfew from 1 to 6 in the morning for 15 days from midnight from Thursday to Friday, and also plans to limit meetings to a maximum of 10 people, with the aim of curbing the spread of omicron, currently soaring.
At the gates of Christmas, nightlife also closes again and the capacity of the interiors of bars and restaurants is limited to 50%, and 70% in shops, gyms and cultural and sports events. Likewise, the Government recommends teleworking.
The number of Covid cases in Catalonia has doubled in the last week, and the autonomous community has registered until this Monday 1,123,573 confirmed cases accumulated since the start of the pandemic -1,037,782 with a PCR test or antigen test- , 4,232 more than in the count on Sunday, according to data from the Ministry of Health collected by Europa Press.
In the last 24 hours, one death has been registered and the total number of deceased is 24,306: 15,523 in hospital or health center, 4,659 in residence, 1,268 at home and 2,856 that are not classifiable due to lack of information.
As for patients currently admitted, the figure stands at 1,280, 136 more than in the last count. A total of 310 patients are admitted to intensive care units (ICU) of public and private centers, three more than in the last count.
The rate of reproduction of the disease (rt) drops to 1.70 and the percentage of positivity of the antigen and PCR tests stands at 11.46%, while the accumulated incidence in the last 14 days is 712.87 per 100,000 inhabitants and the average age of confirmed cases is 36.92 years. The rate of risk of regrowth has risen: on Sunday it stood at 1,132 and 24 hours later it is at 1,179.
