Check to order: what it is – Dictionary of Economics

Nominative check that can be endorsed (transmitted to another person through a written declaration of the holder in the document itself).

According to article 120 of Law 19/1985, of July 16, Exchange and Check, where it is said that “the check issued in favor of a specific person, with or without a clause to order, is transferable by means of endorsement “. In this sense, the aforementioned article continues that “the check issued in favor of a specific person with the clause not to order or another equivalent, is not transferable except in the form and with the effects of an ordinary assignment.” That is to say, the nominative check that specifically includes the clause “not to order”, will have to be cashed personally by the holder, unless it is transmitted by means of an ordinary assignment of credit.
