Apple has released the new version of all its operating systems including iOS. In some cases, we find little news, and in others, it is more a matter of fixing bugs or including support for new features.
In the case of iOS 14.7, the new version comes at a difficult time, a day after the revelation that thousands of designed to break into the iPhone and steal data and calls. Apple has not confirmed if this version includes any safeguards against these attacks, only indicating the solution to various ‘bugs’.
The release of iOS 14.7 also coincides with the release of a new product: the MagSafe Power Bank. As usual, this device will not work well with our iPhone if we do not install the latest update first; iOS 14.7 includes support for this battery for the iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, which are the only smartphones with MagSafe for now.
With the new iOS 14.7, we will not only be able to use the new battery, but we will be able to manage and control it in the menus. It will appear in the battery widget, along with the internal battery of the mobile, as well as in the overview that shows the battery levels of all the devices that we have associated with the iPhone.
For Spain, Apple brings an interesting novelty: information on air quality. The Weather and Maps apps will now indicate the air quality in the area we are in, or the one we are going to visit, to better prepare us in case we have to go out. This function was already available in other countries, but now it arrives in Spain, along with France, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands and South Korea.
The Podcasts app has been updated, and will now allow us to see a list of all shows, or just the ones we follow for clarity. And HomePod has gained the function of managing timers.
All other Apple devices have also been updated to version 14.7 or equivalent. The Apple Watch system, watchOS, reaches version 7.6, adding the EKG function to 30 more countries.
However, if you have an Apple Watch and usually unlock it using your iPhone, you may not want to update to the latest versions. In the last few hours, a ‘bug’ has been discovered in iOS 14.7 that makes the iPhone unable to unlock the Apple Watch, even if we use Touch ID. Therefore, we must enter our code directly into the watch to unlock it.
