The companies dedicated to the manufacture of canned fish in Spain reach a turnover of almost 2,700 million euros, according to the Ranking of Companies produced by , a brand of , (a CESCE company), a leader in the supply of Commercial, Financial Information , Sector and Marketing, published by El Economista. Eight of the ten companies with the highest sales are located in Galicia and the remaining two in Guipúzcoa and Castellón.
The three best positioned companies of the 184 dedicated to this activity are all located in La Coruña, a province that has two other companies in the top ten.

The company lowers its figures by 8% and falls 23 positions in the national ranking, to 353, and one in its province, La Coruña, to rank 15. The company’s staff grows notably, from 327 to 1,374 employees, all fixed. The value of its assets rises to 178 million euros. Frinsa is a private label supplier to the main European chains and also manufactures its own brands Frinsa (gourmet) and Ribeira.
The company that occupies the second position climbing one position, Escuris SL, cut its turnover compared to the previous year, by 2%, to remain at around 320 million euros. The company has assets of 85 million euros. Escuris SL gives up 25 places on the national list, up to 467, and three in La Coruña, where it is number 20. The workforce drops from 384 to 372 people, 74% permanent. The company, created in 1939, is part of the group, Jealsa Rianxeira SA.
Jealsa Rianxeira SA drops one position to third. It also falls back five places in the ranking of La Coruña and 41 in the national one, standing at 21 and 482 respectively. Its sales, above 300 million euros, fell by 5%. The company adds 2 employees, from 846 to 848, 23% permanent. It has assets of 183 million euros.

Within the top ten of the canned fish manufacturing companies, seven of them lower their sales compared to the previous year. Only Fandicosta SA, 6%, Angulas Aguinaga SAU, 11% and Francisco Gil Comes SL, 8% improved.
These ten companies alone represent 68% of the total turnover of the sector in Spain.
Six have 100% permanent employment, in addition to Frinsa del Noroeste SA, Conservas Selectas de Galicia SL, Calvo Conservas SL, Ignacio González Montes SA and Francisco Gil Comes SL.
If the billing of the consolidated groups were taken into account, the list would undergo a change:
– The Biscayan company Grupo Conservas Garavilla SL would move from the 30th position it currently occupies to the third position in the ranking, thanks to a consolidated turnover of 316 million euros.
