El Corte Inglés has already set up the company with which it has launched to compete since this month of August in the logistics and transport sector. As the group has published in the Official Gazette of the Mercantile Registry (Borme), the company El Corte Inglés Logística Avanzada, which was created with a share capital of 60,000 euros, has as its corporate purpose “the activity of transporting all types of merchandise, for national or foreign territory and by any means; logistics activity, including storage, distribution and delivery at destination and agency and transport mediation service”.
With Óscar Fernández del Llano as the sole administrator of the company, the objective is thus to use the entire logistics structure of El Corte Inglés to offer services to third parties, thus expanding the diversification of the business. The president of the commerce giant, Marta Álvarez, explains in her letter to the shareholders published in the last annual report that for the coming years.
Projects
“We are working on numerous projects such as the launch of a new mobile and fiber operator that will combine the offer of technology with telecommunications services in the smart home environment; or the commercialization of energy, a project that will be launched in the 2021 financial year. ; or the development of integral services among which are security, cleaning, home alarms, or the creation of a new logistics company that will provide service to third parties”.
To carry out this entire diversification process, El Corte Inglés and others have developed their own company.
This has been the case of Sicor, a group of companies that will offer specific products and services to both corporate and private clients.
Services
Sicor covers, in fact, various activities such as security, home alarms, cleaning, maintenance and logistics. Likewise, Álvarez recalls that “we have also undertaken new projects in the field of financial services, where the experience of our Insurance companies will allow us to develop services related to the management of investment funds and wealth management”.
The ultimate goal pursued by the company is to go from being a distributor to becoming a service company with a much broader offer.
“This transformation project will turn us into a true ecosystem of services aimed at facilitating, in an integral way, the lives of our clients. It is, therefore, a business model that will offer more benefits, that will add more value and help the growth of the group,” says Álvarez.
