March continues with a high price on the main energies (gas, gasoline, butane, electricity…), despite the drop compared to the last session on Tuesday that left the price on electricity. As a direct consequence of the , but also of the high price that electricity companies have been adding, as well as the few measures taken by the Government, this fact has meant that with regard to domestic consumption, it is vital to know when it is more profitable to use certain electrical appliances (iron, washing machine , dishwasher, oven…) since its consumption can vary, assuming significant savings.
As shown by data from , the organization that manages the electricity markets of Spain and Portugal and collects their rates, the average price of electricity in Spain this Thursday, March 10, is 369.75 euros/MWh. Very high figures when compared to the price set a year ago, when the MWh cost 37.36 euros.
At what time is electricity cheaper?
With regard to the daily variation, as usual, the ‘cheapest’ sections are concentrated both in the early hours of the day and in the central hours of the afternoon and in the last hours of the day. The latter are the cheapest, as the section between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. drops to 319.5 euros/MWh.
At what time is electricity more expensive?
On the contrary, the central hours of the morning as well as those closest to dusk represent the highest cost, even reaching 452.69 euros/MWh between 08:00 and 09:00.

Why does the price of electricity vary so much?
This constant increase in prices, as well as its variation, is due to the higher cost of gas in international markets, which is used in combined cycle plants. As these are the most expensive, they are the ones that, in general, mark the price in most hours.
Direct consequence of the conflict with a supplying Russia, which affects the pockets of consumers on the electricity bill.
