March continues with a high price on the main energies (gas, gasoline, butane, electricity…), to the point that electricity. As shown by the data from , the organization that manages the electricity markets of Spain and Portugal and collects their rates, the average price of electricity in Spain during this Tuesday, March 8, is 544.98 euros/MWh. Very high figures when compared to the price set a year ago, when the MWh cost 53.16 euros.

With regard to the daily variation, as usual, the ‘cheapest’ sections are concentrated both in the early hours of the day and in the early hours of the afternoon. The first ones are the cheapest, highlighting the section between 04:00 and 05:00 when the price reaches its lowest figure, reaching 424.88 euros/MWh.
At what time is electricity more expensive?
On the contrary, the central hours of the morning as well as those closest to dusk suppose the highest cost, reaching even 700 euros/MWh between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Why does the price of electricity vary so much?
This constant increase in prices, as well as its variation, is due to the higher cost of gas in international markets, which is used in combined cycle plants. As these are the most expensive, they are the ones that, in general, mark the price in most hours.
