Glovo will move its international headquarters from Barcelona to a space of 30,000 square meters

Glovo continues to bet on Barcelona, the city where the company was founded in 2015 and which houses its international headquarters, and has announced that it will move from the end of 2022 and during 2023 to the MILE 22@ business campus, located on the axis Badajoz, to adapt to its growth and expansion plans.

The new headquarters will have an area close to 30,000 square meters, which in this first phase will have capacity for more than 3,000 employees and may be expanded in later stages as the workforce continues to grow.

The new location will accommodate the growth of the team located in the central office in Barcelona, which currently has more than 1,700 employees out of the more than 3,400 professionals who work in the rest of the technology company’s offices globally. Thus, from Barcelona the strategy and technological development for the 24 countries in which Glovo is present will continue to be defined.

In addition, the company reaffirms its commitment to sustainability by moving its headquarters to an efficient building thanks to the energy saving system, the generation of renewable energy through solar panels, the high-efficiency air filtering system and 57% of savings in water consumption.

The new offices will occupy two of the three buildings of the business center promoted by the German developer FREO Group: MILE Àvila, located on the corner of Ávila and Llull streets and with an area of 16,524 square metres, and MILE Llull, on the corner of Llull and Badajoz streets with an area of 13,625 square meters.

According to Oscar Pierre, CEO and co-founder of the company, “Barcelona trusted in Glovo and, thanks to that support, in just six years a small errand pilot has become a multi-category platform with an international presence. We are going to continue betting on the city that saw us born because we believe that, by working together, Barcelona will continue to be an international benchmark in economic growth, a catalyst for the entrepreneurial ecosystem and a pole for attracting talent”.

For Ignacio Sobrino, director of offices at JLL, a real estate consultant in charge of advising both FREO and Glovo in signing the lease: “This is the largest transaction in the history of leasing a private company in the Barcelona office market. This new movement is a clear example that the 22@ district, after years of urban transformation and driven by technology and innovation, has become one of the meeting points in Barcelona for owners, who seek to develop buildings of the highest quality, and companies interested in offering their employees new versatile and sustainable workspaces that foster engagement and a feeling of belonging to the brand”.
