Houzz arrives in Spain to reform your house

houzz It is an app that arrives in Spain to literally renovate homes; it’s a mix between Pinterest and Wikipedia for home decorating and renovation ideas.

This app was released on iOS, Android and web just last week in Spain, being officially presented just in the past few days. The Houzz team arrives in Spain with the guarantee of having 30 million users, of which a total of 100,000 were already Spanish -although they did not have access to use the app except in other languages-.

Houzz’s idea is to connect the professional community of home interior decorators and reformersin which a series of professional profiles can be intertwined with “common” users, ranging from architects, landscapers, interior designers, decorators, among others.

Today, the platform already has more than 6 million high-resolution photos showing the work of professionals active on it, including discussion forums, spaces for articles, advice, ideas, among others. It could be said that it has a facet similar to Pinterest, but totally tropicalized and specialized for what is home and interiors.

One of the most interesting options is that the same photographs and albums that are posted by professionals can be labeled by other users to request their purchase through an integrated online purchase function, which ends up making Houzz is also an e-commerce platform. In order to monetize the latter, the Houzz team plans to charge a commission for those items that its sale contributes to its platform.

Of course, Houzz too contemplates integrating its own advertising sales strategyas it represents a specific audience, segmented and with the possibility of generating a large select market niche.

Finally, we must highlight an option to obtain a “premium” subscription or user, giving greater visibility to professionals who wish to do so.

Although some might consider that this type of application is not ideal for Spain at the moment because it is in the hangover from the bursting of the real estate bubble, the same thing happened in the US in 2009 and in any case, applications and professionals in this sector made their way.

What do you say? Would you be willing to use this application, either as a professional or as a common user? We invite you to explore and try it and share your opinion with us.
