How to cancel the payment of a subsidy or unemployment when you get a job

Given that the intention of unemployment benefits is to offer financial coverage to people who have lost their jobs without discouraging the search for a new job, when this happens it is important for citizens to quickly cancel their benefit because, Otherwise, you will have to return the amounts unduly charged.

In this sense, and with the aim of facilitating the process, the Public State Employment Service (SEPE) has explained that there is the possibility of canceling unemployment or any subsidy online by filling out a pre-application form available at the Agency’s Electronic Headquarters.

The mechanism has two advantages for the citizen. In the first place, it avoids the process of and, secondly, it does not require telematic methods such as the digital certificate () or Cl@ve ().

The process to fill out the pre-application form begins by clicking . Citizens who want to cancel their benefit will have to enter the number and letter of their DNI or NIE and then choose the ‘Low Benefit’ option. Then you must click on ‘Start procedure’.

The system will take you to a new screen in which you are told that you do not have to send this form if you have already processed the withdrawal from the benefit by another means or if the request has already been previously notified. The citizen must indicate the reason for the cancellation of the benefit. The possible causes are the following:

-Medical leave or temporary disability.

-Placement on their own or by someone else (this would be the case of people who have found a new job).

-Maternity or paternity.

-Transfer outside of Spain.

– Violation of the income limit for benefits.

What information must be filled in the pre-application

Subsequently, the citizen must fill in all the blank fields: personal data such as name and surname, the name of the mother and father, the expiration date of the DNI, the account number and the effective date of cancellation of the benefit.

You will also have to fill in the information of the contact details: the address, the province, town, postal code, telephone number and email address. In addition, it has a comments section in which, if you wish, you can notify SEPE of any further announcement.

Finally, the citizen has to respond to the security verification and click on ‘Send request’. The SEPE will send you an acknowledgment of receipt indicating that the pre-application has been carried out correctly. The organization explains that, in any case, the pre-application form is a provisional process and that it can request additional information if it deems it appropriate.
