It is possible that on certain occasions we have found ourselves with the need to compare two Excel files or tables to find out their differences. A task that, if the tables we have in Excel have a large amount of data, can be quite tedious. However, we are going to show a way of compare two and mark their differences to make our work easier.
Steps to follow to compare two Excel files and see their differences
To do this, we are going to use free software such as ExcelMerge. A free application that has been developed to compare two Excel files and mark the differences between them. ExcelMerge offers us the option to see all the data from both Excel with the differences marked or simply see the data that is different between both files if that is more useful for us. In addition, it offers some customization options, since we can choose what color we want to highlight the differences or or SVT.
To compare two Excel files with ExcelMerge, the first thing we have to do is download the . Once we have the ExcelMerge interface open, we add both excel files that we want to compare, can be in both XLS and XLSX format, although it is also compatible with CSV and TSV. Once we have both files in the tool, it is even possible to select the sheets of each Excel that we want to compare.
With everything ready, click on the button Extract Diff and the process that compares both files will begin. Next, it will show us the data of the files on the left side and on the right side we can see the differences marked in orange. If we prefer to see only the differences, we can also mark the Only Diff format option.
Although it is not activated by default, ExcelMerge offers the option of seeing, through the console, the data that differentiates one Excel from another by specifying the value of one and the other, as well as where each of them is located. To activate this option we have to go to the menu option View > Console. This information can be or TSV so that we can later treat and analyze it carefully, even from Excel.
The customization options can be found by entering the menu Settings > General Settingswhich will open a window where we can change the colors used by default by ExcelMerge.
