How to get Cl@ve for Social Security, Tax Agency or SEPE procedures

The possibility of carrying out procedures electronically in organizations as important as the Social Security, the Tax Agency or the SEPE is real and the offer is varied. One of the options is to carry them out through Cl@ve, with which you can manage pension procedures, benefits, the income statement…

Everything that surrounds these access methods for procedures is usually dotted with some confusion for citizens, which is why Social Security has drawn up a guide to obtain the Cl@ve in four different ways. In Import@ss, , relates the options that exist to achieve it.

, Import@ss defines the Cl@ve as “an identification and signature system that allows you to interact electronically with the Administration” with only the use of the DNI or NIE and an access password. In the same way, it explains that in order to be able to use it before, you have to register in the system. Here are the ways to do it:

Online without digital certificate

You must click on the ‘Register in Cl@ve’ option, enter your DNI and its validity date and accept the sending of the invitation letter, which will arrive at the address registered in the Treasury database with all the information necessary for the Registration.

Once the letter is in their possession, the citizen must enter the previous link, choose ‘Register in Cl@ve’ again and select ‘I already have an invitation letter’. At that time, you must enter the Secure Verification Code (CSV) that appears in the letter, the contact information and accept the terms and conditions. The system will give you the registration and a code to activate, if you wish, your permanent password.

Online with a digital certificate or electronic ID

It can be done by entering the DNI or NIE and its validity date. Afterwards, the user must identify himself with his digital certificate or his electronic DNI, indicate his contact information and accept the terms and conditions. With that you will have completed the registration and the permanent key code will be sent to you.

Online by video call

You can start the registration, always from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and through “a mobile device or from a computer with a camera, microphone and speakers”. You must first make a test video call to ensure that the connection will be successful and then you can start the process by clicking ‘Continue’.

You must enter the DNI or NIE, its validity date and click on ‘Access video assistance’. The Social Security informs that if the system is available, the citizen will be informed of the waiting time. When it is fulfilled, you will be in contact with an assistant who will facilitate the registration in Cl@ve after verifying the identity of the applicant.

In person

You can also request registration in Cl@ve at a Cl@ve Registry Office (). In order to do so, you will have to request an appointment, which can be obtained from the presentation of writings, applications and communications.

The citizen must fill in their identification and contact information and select the category ‘Citizen/Worker’ and explain below the reason for the communication. At the time of carrying out the procedure, the citizen must carry their DNI or NIE with them in order to successfully register with Cl@ve.

What to do if you are registered in Cl@ve

Once the citizen is already registered in Cl@ve, they will be able to carry out procedures online with this access method. You have two ways to access these procedures:

-Cl@ve PIN: it is an access method with a temporary and single-use password that is renewed in each operation. In order to receive it, you must download the ‘Cl@ve PIN’ app on Google Play or the Apple Store. On the corresponding website, choose the procedure you want to carry out with the Cl@ve PIN access method, enter the DNI and the validity date, click ‘Continue’ and ‘Get PIN’. Enter the Cl@ve PIN app, where you will have the code with which you can carry out the procedure. If it has not arrived within 60 seconds, you can request delivery by SMS.

-Permanent Cl@ve: unlike the previous one, it allows the user to use the same password (by entering the DNI), as personal passwords, for two years. To do this, you must request said permanent cl@ve at this link, using the code obtained when registering in the Cl@ve system, the DNI or NIE and the email address. After that, you will receive a one-time code on your mobile phone to be able to create the definitive permanent password later.
