The 2021-2022 Income Campaign has started this Wednesday with the opening of the term for the presentations of the declarations of the Income Tax of Physical Persons (IRPF) through the internet, either through the website of the Tax Agency or the agency’s mobile app. A modality that was chosen by more than 92% of the almost 22 million taxpayers of the previous year and that, once again, will be the most used.
The first step that all taxpayers who wish to file their return online have to take is to obtain the draft Income Tax. With it in our possession we will be able to review the result of our declaration (that is, if it goes out to return or to enter), add possible state and regional deductions, modify data that is incorrect…
To get the draft of the Income there are three different methods. Any of the three is valid and through all of them it is possible to access the draft and begin the tax return process.
Get the draft of the Rent with the reference number
To access the draft Income with this method, it is necessary to have the data of the , which corresponds to the ‘General taxable base subject to tax’.
On the Income draft access page, the taxpayer must enter their DNI or NIE (numbers and letters), the validity date or the date of issue if it is a permanent number, and click on ‘continue’. Then you must choose the option ‘Access by identifying yourself with Reference’. If you already have it, you just have to fill in the DNI again and enter that reference. If you don’t have one, you have to click on ”I don’t have a reference’.
The system will take you to a screen where you have to enter the data from box 505 of the previous year’s return. If the declaration has not been made or the result is zero, the taxpayer must enter the last five digits of the IBAN of a bank account in his name. With these data, the system will provide you with a reference number that you must save in order to use it to access the draft.
Get the draft of the Rent with digital certificate
Another option is to have a digital certificate, an access method used in multiple procedures not only by the Tax Agency, but also by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) or Social Security. The most recognized digital certificate for procedures with the Administration is the one issued by the National Currency and Stamp Factory, the FNMT.
To get this digital certificate: request it online, prove our identity at one of the verification offices, download the certificate and get a backup copy of it. It is a process that takes several days but that guarantees the taxpayer a method of access to the vast majority of Administration procedures.
On the Income draft access screen, the taxpayer must choose the option ‘Access with a digital certificate or electronic DNI’ instead of entering the DNI as in the case of identification with the reference number.
Get the Draft Income Tax with Cl@ve PIN
Cl@ve is the third and last method with which you can obtain the Income Tax draft and subsequently complete and submit the tax return. Social Security defines it as the “identification and signature system that allows you to interact electronically with the Administration” and serves, like the digital certificate, to carry out all kinds of procedures both at the Tax Agency and at the Social Security itself or the SEPE.
The citizen has until later to be able to get a Cl@ve PIN (and also a permanent one): online with or without a certificate, through a video call with an official () or in person at a Cl@ve Registry Office.
When accessing the Income tax draft, you must enter your DNI and you must choose the option ‘Access by identifying yourself with Cl@ve’, an alternative that the Tax Agency recommends. The system will open a screen asking if you want to obtain a Cl@ve PIN. You must click ‘Get PIN’ to gain access to the draft.
