How to turn off “one of your contacts is on TikTok, say hi!” notifications

If you are one of those who has recently fallen into the clutches of TikTokor if you have been hanging around the very popular social network for a while, it is possible that every so often you receive that notification that alerts you that one of your contacts is also registered in the app. In order to follow each other, the application usually sends this type of notifications and thus expand your number of followers, or simply let you know that that person has an account and that you may be interested in following them.

Be that as it may, the truth is that there comes a point when Tiktok gets a little heavy; When we receive a notification from the app and we think that our favorite content creator has uploaded a new video, it turns out that it is a simple reminder that So-and-so is in the app. «Say hello!», yes, now…

Say goodbye to annoying TikTok notifications regarding your contacts

Because sometimes it even repeats the notification for the same contact, testing our patience. But luckily, these notifications (and many others) can be disabled. Below we illustrate it step by step. Of course, we will illustrate it from the iPhone app, although the steps will not vary too much if you use Tiktok from Android.

First, enter your profile from TikTok and touch the three horizontal lines icon that appears in the upper right corner of the screen.

When you do so, this drop-down menu will appear at the bottom of the screen with the section Settings and privacywhich we will have to enter.

Among all the settings that appear in the list, you will have to locate the one that says Push notifications.

Here you can entertain yourself by deactivating the notifications that you are not interested in receiving, but in this case, the one that concerns us is the one that says People you may know. Make sure to disable the switch if you had it enabled.

From that moment on, it is assumed that you will no longer receive notifications of “X person in your contacts is on TikTok. Say hello!”, thus benefiting your emotional balance.

Other notifications that may be worth deactivating are “Videos you might like”, because they tend to spam quite a few viral ones that then neither work nor fail (or that, in the worst case, catch us during working hours and increase our procrastination), or the one about “Customized Updates and more”, because it is still a mixed bag that sometimes we don’t end up being too interested either.
