The Swedish furniture and decoration company has confirmed that “on August 15, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. (Moscow time), the online sale of Ikea products will end.” Thus, Ikea stores in Russia will remain closed.
However, these stores will only operate for the issuance of previously placed orders, as well as for the return and exchange of merchandise. “All orders placed before the end of the season at the time agreed upon when placing the order,” the company specified.
the first abandonment
In March, Ikea announced the temporary closure of its branches in Russia and Belarus as a result of the war between Ukraine and Russia. According to a company statement, “The war is already having a huge human impact. And it is also causing serious disruptions to the supply chain and trading conditions. For all these reasons, company groups have decided to temporarily suspend their operations.”
In this way, all exports and imports and above all, production in Russia was paralyzed. This directly affected approximately 15,000 jobs between Switzerland and Russia. However, to reassure its employees, Ikea stated that “and provided support to them and their families in the region.”
