The candidate Joan Laporta has become president of FC Barcelona again after winning the elections held this Sunday in various parts of Catalonia and Andorra by accumulating 54.28% of the votes, ahead of Víctor Font, the second most voted in the elections, and Toni Freixa.
Laporta will be able to take the witness, after more than four months of waiting, before submitting to a motion of censure that had been enabled by the partner.
The new president, who will live a second stage in the club after presiding over it between 2003 and 2010, will have to face a few years of economic crisis, sporting challenges and with the ‘Espai Barça’ as a great heritage project.
After a historic day of voting, with a large turnout in the midst of the pandemic and the novelty of voting by mail, Laporta obtained a good income over the second-place finisher, Víctor Font and his 29.99% of votes, and the third-place finisher, Toni Freixa , with 8.58% of the votes.
