Oppo has announced the launch in Europe of the Reno 6 range, with two new versions with 5G connectivity and new cameras.
We are facing the most desired models of the Chinese manufacturer, which is part of the same BBK group to which OnePlus and Realme belong. In the case of the new Reno6, the priority seems to have been to adapt the models already launched in China, adding 5G and adapting them to the European market.
The new range is made up of two devices, the top of the range being the Oppo Reno6 Pro with a starting price of 799 euros. This is the one that uses the most powerful processor, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 with 12 GB of RAM, and the one with the best cameras, but otherwise, they are very similar phones aesthetically and in functionality.
Oppo’s presentation has focused on cameras, and on the use of Artificial Intelligence to improve our photos. The Reno6 Pro has a 50 MP main sensor made by Sony, the IMX766, accompanied by a 16 MP wide angle, a 13 MP telephoto lens with 2x magnification and a 2 MP macro lens. The large aperture of the main camera allows for high-quality photos day or night, and the included color temperature sensor allows for greater precision in rendering photos. It has Flash Snapshot technology, capable of automatically focusing the moment we open the camera app.
Video recording has also received an important novelty, the bokeh effect portrait video mode, which is capable of automatically blurring the background, an effect that looks especially good with backlights. The use of AI algorithms is noticeable in the Live HDR mode, which automatically optimizes the ambient light when we record video. The camera is also capable of automatically focusing on the subject we are recording, even in motion, and the Dual-View mode allows you to capture with the rear and front cameras at the same time, to record our reactions.
Like competing models, the Oppo Reno6 Pro also has 65W fast charging, to recover 100% of our 4,500 mAh battery in just 31 minutes. A vapor chamber is in charge of cooling, larger than usual, covering 32% of the phone’s surface, achieving a thickness of 7.99 mm and a weight of 188 grams.
Overseas, Oppo has unveiled a new design line called Glow, which it claims is the result of more than 20 patents applied for. It features a transparent matte finish, which shines from every angle; still, Oppo claims that it repels fingerprints. The 6.55-inch AMOLED screen is curved, so it reaches the edges, giving a more luxurious effect.
The second announced device is the basic Oppo Reno6, with a price of 499 euros; therefore, we see some changes especially in the processor which is now a Mediatek Dimensity 900 with 8 GB of RAM.
In addition, the screen is a little smaller, at 6.43 inches, but it maintains AMOLED technology and a 90 Hz refresh rate. In addition, it also has a 65 W fast charge, with a somewhat smaller 4,300 mAh battery. . It also retains the Oppo Glow effect on the case, and the Bokeh effect portrait video technology on the cameras.
