The penultimate telephone scam is a simple bill for foreign scammers, difficult to locate by national authorities and with great freedom of action.
In recent years, crimes related to telecommunications and information technology have multiplied, which has put police forces on guard, already with units specifically trained to move in the virtual world.
The penultimate scam reaches mobile phones directly through a missed call with a long number with a foreign prefix that hooks the user the moment they return the call.
The Police have warned of this new scam, which is executed through a special pricing of the returned call, which will have a high cost for the user the longer they are without hanging up.
According to La Voz de Galicia, the malicious call can be detected by its foreign prefix, which is often 353, coming from Albania, although many of these calls also originate in African countries such as the Ivory Coast (225), Ghana ( 233) and Nigeria (234).
The execution is simple: the scammers call without letting there be more than one tone, in such a way that the receiver will not be able to pick up and will be forced to return the call by dialing the foreign number, at which point the economic scam will begin with the payment for that communication.
