Surely more than once it has happened to you that you have a song that won’t come out of your head, but you don’t know its name, you have the melody, but you can’t find the name. To whom to turn? Well, the same one you go to whenever you don’t know something, Google is your solution, since the search engine has a function called “Search Song” specifically for that.
Finding the song that you have been repeating all morning in your head is a huge satisfaction, there are specific apps for it, the best known is Shazam, although there are many others. But having to download a specific app and then use it only twice a year is something that not many people are willing to do.
For this reason, and although many do not know of the existence of this, it has developed a function for its Virtual Assistant with which you can find the song you were thinking of.
This tool is free and available to everyone, and to extend it, the company had to develop an algorithm capable of detecting the melodies of songs. Each melody has a rhythm or tone that makes them unique, or at least the vast majority of songs, so this works a bit as a differentiating feature.
The company trained its AI so that in just 15 seconds it is able to recognize and identify the melody, but best of all, it works by simply humming its rhythm. Thus, with what sounds in your head like “nanana, nanana, nanana, nanana…” the assistant was able to recognize the rhythm and pitch and find just the song you were thinking of.

This tool is found in Google’s own search engine, and you have two ways to activate it. The first is by entering Google and pressing the microphone icon that appears in the search bar, here at the bottom a window called “Search Song” will appear, you just have to press it and start humming or whistling.
The other way to activate it is by speaking directly to the Assistant and asking “Hey Google, what’s this song?” and then hum it, sing it or play it. It is true that this song search engine is not one hundred percent accurate when it comes to finding the song you are looking for, but this is not your fault either, since there are millions of songs on the Internet and your humming skills are also an aspect consider.
