The good thing about this tool, apart from helping you locate your phone, is that you can either download it and have it installed as a specific app or you can access it directly from the web, you just need to write “find my mobile/ device” in Google and the tab in question will open.
This tool is totally free and anyone who has a Google account registered on their mobile can use it. In addition to this requirement, for the location to work the phone has to be turned on, be connected to a WiFi or data connection and have the location turned on.
In the event that you need to use this function, access the Find my device page and Google automatically has your phone registered, although it can also be done with smart watches or Android tablets that you have registered.

If you have the location turned on, it will show you a map with the place where your smartphone is and even when you are close you can make it emit a sound, even when it is silent, to make it easier for you to locate it. This sound can also be useful when you lose your mobile at home and it is in silent mode, so calling it is not an option.
In the worst case, if you haven’t been able to find your mobile, Google also offers you the possibility to lock the device and log out of your Google account, eliminating any possibility of someone using it if it has been stolen. If you activate this option you will still be able to locate your smartphone and you can even add a phone number or a message on the locked screen of your smartphone.
But if you definitely give up your smartphone for lost, you can select the option to erase data from the device that will delete all the files on it, the difference is that after activating this function you will not be able to locate it again.
