A new season of trade fair activity begins at a global level, and one of the first European events that Barcelona will host is , the new international event dedicated to Real Estate from the perspective of capital and investment markets. From October 19 to 21, the real estate summit will turn the city into the European epicenter for major industry leaders and all players in the value chain: from investment funds, sovereign wealth funds, private equity, financing banks or sources financing alternatives, passing through the large landowners, administrations, operators, promoters, brokers, marketing agencies, consultants or property managers.
Juan Velayos, President of The District; Gema Travería, Director of The District; Josep Jorge, director of The District World Summit 2022 congress; and Albert Planas, CEO of NEBEXT, the organizing company, have announced at the Cercle d’Economia all the exclusive news of the first edition of the real estate event, which will bring together more than 7,000 professionals to learn about investment strategies for 2023 .
In this regard, Juan Velayos stated that “by holding THE DISTRICT we are bringing together all the world’s players in the Real Estate industry in Barcelona with a triple objective: to resolve the current doubts surrounding the sector for the year that is coming, promote commercial activity with agile meetings that allow you to feel the current state of the market, and once again reposition Barcelona as a ‘Real Estate Friendly’ territory for investors”.
In order to discuss the situation of the real estate sector, taking into account rigorously topical factors such as the devaluation of the euro or the historical rise in interest rates, THE DISTRICT has been structured along three main axes: the development of capital market structures, the value of meeting ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria, and the transformation experienced by Residential, Office, Logistics, Hospitality, Retail and Alternative asset classes, such as co-living or data centers . In addition, the application of new technologies in real estate projects will also have its leading role in the event.
Gema Travería highlighted the reception that the summit has had from the outset by both the sector and the city of Barcelona, ”in what will be a real estate ‘Davos’ that will serve to clarify the way in which to face the new cycle property that has already arrived and that in THE DISTRICT we will analyze in depth with the great gurus and capital companies”.
The District World Summit 2022: “What really matters”
The stage that will bring together all the great experts will be The District World Summit 2022, the largest European congress focused on all sources of capital. More than 380 international experts and Real Estate leaders will shed light on the main unknowns surrounding the sector and that are related to current economic, environmental and technological challenges. “What is going to be the winning real estate asset in 2023, which country has more investment opportunities today, how is inflation affecting the recovery that Real Estate was experiencing, or the business opportunities of growing sectors, such as the senior , will be some of the issues that The District World Summit 2022 will debate”, says Josep Jorge.
Michael Swank, Senior Managing Director in Real Estate Acquisitions Europe at Blackstone; Michael Abel, TPG Head of Europe; Juan Pepa, Founder of Stoneshield; Pere Viñolas, president of the European Public Real Estate Association; Jacopo Burgio, Europe Director of Angelo Gordon; Carlos Colomer, Principal of Apollo Global Management; Alberto Nin, Senior Vice President of Brookfield Asset Management; Ismael Clemente, CEO of MERLIN Properties; Eduard Mendiluce, CEO of Anticipa and Aliseda; or Cristina García-Peri, Senior Partner of Azora, are some of the many international experts who will expose the main doubts that the sector currently has.
Business, networking and leisure space
In addition to the transfer of knowledge, THE DISTRICT is a business space where projects in search of capital in which to invest or divest will be presented. AEDAS Homes, Anticipa, CBRE, JLL, NEINOR Homes, or Servihabitat, are some of the more than 250 exhibiting firms that will present their real estate plans in an exclusive hospitality area. “THE DISTRICT we have focused on as an event of the highest value in which the ‘decision makers’ of the capital will be able to organize very complete agendas to decide what their strategy will be in the coming months. The contact they will make in three days in Barcelona is the one that could do in different countries over months”, explained Albert Planas.
Likewise, networking and leisure activities have been designed to stimulate the establishment of relationships. An example of this is the Principal’s Leadership Summit, a lunch with Real Estate leaders and entrepreneurs together with authorities that has the purpose of consolidating and making real connections.
