Telefónica will pay next June and will give way to a new stage. The teleoperator approved at its last Shareholders’ Meeting the end of remuneration in shares, at the cost of lowering the amount of its annual payment -from 0.40 to 0.30 euros gross per share-, but which, in practice, avoids the dilution of those who would have been accepting payment in cash (and not in kind) in recent years, although it has been offset by the amortization of their treasury stock.
The point is that in order to access this dividend, the company chaired by José María Álvarez Pallete has made public part of the key dates of the last scrip dividend. May 31 will be the last day to access this payment. The negotiation period for the free allocation rights is expected to begin on June 1, with which the shares would already be listed ex-coupon.
On June 17 – the date forecast by Bloomberg, but not yet confirmed by the company – payment will be made for those who have decided to collect the dividend in cash. Telefónica will pay 0.15 euros gross per share which, at current prices, reaches a return of 3.21%. This is the second and last installment of the teleoperator charged to its 2021 results, since the first occurred last December and for the same amount.
Telefónica, which has corrected almost 7% since it touched 5 euros per share two weeks ago, continues to be the second most bullish firm in the telecommunications sector so far this year. Earn 21% in the market, although it has not been able to with the level of 5 euros, which are already above the target average price (at 4.84). Even so, in the last week, of the ten analysis firms that have revised their valuation, six point to levels higher than how it is listed today, and three of them see the Spanish teleco above 6 euros, which, if fulfilled , represents an upward trend of 28%.
next payments
In May and June, whoever is hunting for the most profitable dividend should know that there are those who offer returns that are still higher than 2% and even reach 5%. The first of them is the second ordinary payment of Merlin Properties, scheduled for May 26. It will distribute 0.25 euros, with a return of 2.4%. But it is not the most succulent. The socimi has confirmed that, under the green light of the board, which comes from the sale of Tree to BBVA (for 1,987 million) will be paid in the third quarter. These two payments add up to 0.92 euros per share and a return of 8.8%. On May 31, Mapfre will pay another 0.085 euros -second of the year-, with a return of 4.9%.
Acerinox will give on June 3, predictably, its traditional 0.5 euros that rent 5%. Atresmedia has the most succulent dividend of the Continuum and part of it will arrive on June 22, when it pays 0.24 euros as a supplement with a return of 6.6%.
