The Podimo audio entertainment platform has celebrated the second anniversary of its landing in Spain, . Taking advantage of this milestone, it has announced that it has multiplied by three the number of subscribers in the last six months, and by four the number of listening hours in the same period.

In addition, Podimo has quadrupled its investment in new content for the Spanish market between January and June. It has added renowned names to its catalog such as Risto Mejide and Laura Escanes with ‘Cariño, pero qué dices?’; Ana Milán and Sebastián Gallego, with ‘La vida y tal’; Ferrán Adrià with ‘Innovating is for the brave’; or Hernar Álvares and Moderna de Pueblo with ‘Two very legal blondes’, among many other proposals.
“We are very grateful to Podimo for financing this journalistic work and the excellent conditions in which we have been able to travel,” says Carles Tamayo, creator of the podcasts En la Frontera and Disidencia Controlada. “From the beginning we wanted to tell people’s stories, personal interviews with both refugees and volunteers or members of the resistance, to know their stories. On the other hand, Podimo has also made a strong investment in the creation of audiobooks in Spanish, making available to its listeners a catalog of thousands of titles from Grupo Planeta, Saga Egmont or Word Audio Publishing, among others.
These include the ‘Clásicos Podimo’ collection, audiobooks narrated by important figures from the world of entertainment such as Enrique Arce -El Corazón de las tinieblas-, Leonor Watling -Rebellión en la Granja- or Elena Rivera -El Libro de la Selva-; and the collection ‘The ones that count’ that includes audiobooks narrated by their authors such as the texts by Elizabeth Duval and Sabina Urraca with Madrid will be the grave and She dreamed of the girl who stole a horse, respectively.

The company of Danish origin has established itself in our country as one of the reference apps for audio entertainment content after becoming the third most downloaded entertainment app on the App Store during the first fortnight of June, becoming the most popular streaming content app in Spain.
In addition, the platform was awarded the Prize for the Best Podcast of the Year in Latin America in the first edition of the Ibero-American Station Podcast Festival thanks to the investigative journalism work that was carried out on femicides in Mexico in the podcast ‘Olvidadas: las muertes de Juarez’. Similarly, she was recognized with the Ondas Award for the best non-fiction narrative podcast with ‘Gal: El Triángulo’, produced by el Cañonazo exclusively for Podimo.

In this context of offering quality content, Podimo announced two strategic collaboration agreements a few months ago. , whose objective is to promote the joint leadership of both companies in the podcast industry in the Spanish-speaking world. This collaboration between both companies includes a significant investment for the creation of new content in audio format exclusively for Podimo, as well as the joint development of new business models and the distribution of the group’s open audio content without advertising on the platform or a bundle of joint services.
And, on the other hand, an agreement with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to identify and create opportunities for the intellectual property, formats and stories of the podcast platform to be told outside the audio space.
