This is what nougat has, which is everywhere at Christmas. We have recently seen several manufacturers make a move regarding the long-awaited Android update, some getting into action or others mentioning the devices that will receive it. This is the case of one of the Chinese firms par excellence, since today Huawei has confirmed that they will update to Android 7.0 Nougat, at the same time that it has clarified those who will not see it arrive.
The truth is that the company has not wanted to risk too much and has gone low in terms of smartphones that make the leap to Nougat, so we can tell you that the list is not too long.
These are the Huaweis that will update to Android 7.0 Nougat
It should be noted that Huawei will integrate Android 7.0 Nougat within EMUI 5.0, the customization layer that the company applies to its terminals. On the other hand, let us remember that the new Huawei Mate 9 already comes with EMUI 5.0 (Android 7.0) as standard and therefore, this makes it the first terminal from the manufacturer to incorporate this version.
Without further ado, here is the list of Huawei that will update to Android 7.0 Nougat
- Huawei Mate 8
- Huawei P9
- Huawei P9 Plus
- Huawei P9 lite
- Huawei Nova
- Huawei Nova Plus
They are expected to reach all terminals during the first quarter of 2017.
As you can see, it is a very short list that practically only includes the company’s latest smartphones: The different variants of the Huawei P9 and the Nova brothers, in addition to the Mate 8, the only one from the last generation.
It seems that Huawei has taken advantage of EMUI 5.0 to give the design of its pre-installed apps a good facelift, making them more similar to the Android ecosystem instead of trying to imitate the look of iOS.
On the other hand, Huawei has also confirmed some of the devices that will not see Android 7.0, such as:
- Huawei Mate S
- Huawei P8
- Huawei P8 lite
- Huawei ShotX
- Huawei GX8
It is said that the Chinese firm has not been able to bring Nougat to these and other devices due to limitations of the chipsets that these smartphones incorporate. It’s a shame, because many mobile phones are left out.
These are some new features of Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.0
According to Huawei, EMUI 5.0 is more secure, efficient and intuitive, as it significantly shortens the number of steps you have to take to get to the option you are looking for; What’s more, they claim that you can reach 90% of the main functions in just two or three taps.
On the other hand, they have integrated an app drawer and the user can choose between having the standard interface or opting for that drawer. Along with this, they have also added a profile mode to switch between professional and personal mode, for example.
On the Android 7.0 side, users will be able to enjoy multi-window (running two apps simultaneously on a split screen), grouped app notifications (instead of single ones that take up the entire toolbar), Doze on the go that It will be in charge of optimizing the terminal’s battery when we carry it in our pocket and many more that you can consult.
