If we now had the possibility of changing our working life to any sector, only taking into account the salary: which one should we do it?
The INE records give us an idea of this. The average salary in Spain in 2020 stood, according to data from the Institute, at 2,038.6 euros gross per month, which was 2.8% more than the previous year, being the fourth consecutive increase.
However, if we look at economic sectors and activities, we see that , from professions where the gross salary far exceeds 3,000 euros to others where it barely exceeds the interprofessional minimum.
The best paid sectors in Spain (and the worst)
If we look at the statistics of and the data by economic activities provided by the INE, we see how the energy sector is the one that pays the best salaries, followed by banking and finance, telecommunications, which includes digital professions, and, closing the high zone, the officials.
Specifically, the economic activity with the highest annual remuneration was the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning with an annual gross salary of 52,162 euros, which is more than double the national average.
It is followed by financial and insurance activities (44,302.7 euros), information and communications (34,641 euros per year), extractive industries (34,159 euros) and Public Administration (31,090 euros).
On the other hand, the (14,561 euros), other services (17,066 euros) and administrative activities and auxiliary services (17,107 euros) obtained the lowest remuneration according to the survey.
From household employees to financial activities: more than 2,000 euros of difference
But, what if we look for statistics based on monthly salary? In this case, the lowest-paid salaries are in household activities such as employers of domestic staff (997.3 euros), hospitality (1,119.5 euros) and agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishing (1,373.6 euros).
The highest average salaries, on the other hand, were in financial and insurance activities (3,152.5 euros), supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (3,034.1 euros) and in the information and communications sector (2,809.5 euros).
