Building on this second approach, Instagram recently launched a new feature that will help boost the reach of posts on your platform, at the same time that it offers a new means to create deeper connections between the users of this social network.
Shared posts come to Instagram with Collabs
If we think of a shared publication, the following may come to mind. duets of , a successful format that allows you to create videos from the content of other users. However, the approach taken by Instagram in this aspect is very different, and it moves in the realm of creating stronger connections between users.
In this way, Collabs It is presented as a new function that will allow users to upload their publications or reels in a shared way. Thus, all the participants of the photo or video published as co-authors of the same: the name of each of these users will be displayed at the top of the publication, and it will be displayed in the respective profiles of each one.
Alexandru voiceFacebook’s head of communication for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, announced this new feature through his Twitter profile, saying: “Collaboration is an important part of how people connect on Instagram. To make it easier, we’re testing a new way for people to co-author posts and reels, called Collabs.”
In the same way, Voica clarified that this collaborative function it did not represent a content co-creation tool, but as a way to share the authorship of content. Likewise, it was explained that the publications will have the same count of likes, comments or views, thus providing global organic results from all accounts.
How Collab works
As stated by Voica, the integration of this function will occur at the time of tagging people within the publication. In this section a new button will be added. Invite Collaboratoror invite collaborator, which will be shown next to tag as we can see in the following image.
However, when invited as collaborators in a publication, users will receive a message similar to when they are mentioned in stories. In the same way, also a pop up notification will be received within the application to accept or decline said invitation. In the case of accepting it, the post will appear in both profiles as we have already mentioned. On the other hand, if the publication, or reel, appears in the feed before accepting the invitation, it will also show a notification prompting you to review the collaboration invitation. This new feature is currently being rolled out to a select group of users.
Stories up to one minute long
In addition to this new collaborative feature, Instagram has been working on new features for its platform, especially focused on content creation and how we interact with them. One of these novelties is the extension of the time that the stories last, from the current 15 seconds to 1 minute. This novelty was discovered by Alejandro Paluzzi, an Italian developer, who posted it on his Twitter profile.
A longer time in the duration of the stories will facilitate the creation of more elaborate content. On the other hand, Instagram has also been developing a new tool, called superbeatwhich will allow creators add effects to your videos that go along with the beat of the music, generating a more dynamic experience. Likewise, it has also incorporated new formats for displaying the lyrics of the songs.
Both functions offer a more dynamic and fun approach to music publications in the application, considering themselves as a strategy to strengthen their position in the face of the accelerated advance of TikTok and are expected to be incorporated into the platform in the coming weeks.
