People who, for multiple reasons, do not meet the prior contribution criteria for contributory pensions have the option of requesting (provided they meet the conditions set forth for this purpose) a non-contributory pension, which is used to financially cover these people that, in addition to not having enough contributions, they also do not have resources.

Non-contributory pensions can be of two types, retirement or disability, and their amount is updated year after year. In 2022, (Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration), the amount of these benefits increased above inflation.

Thus, the amount of non-contributory retirement and disability pensions increased by 3% this year. Nearly 450,000 people have benefited from this rise in their pensions.

The text of Royal Decree 65/2022, of January 25, includes the new amounts of non-contributory retirement and disability pensions. They are the following:

The amount of non-contributory retirement pensions in 2022

-The full pension is 421.40 euros per month and 5,899.60 euros per year.

-The 25% pension is 105.35 euros per month and 1,474.90 euros per year.

-If two or more people from the same family unit are beneficiaries of the same type of pension, the pension for each of them will be 358.19 euros per month and 5,014.66 euros per year.

-If three or more people from the same family unit are beneficiaries of the same type of pension, the amount of the pension for each of them will be 337.12 euros per month and 4,719.68 euros per year.

The amount of non-contributory disability pensions in 2022

-The full pension is 421.40 euros per month and 5,899.60 euros per year.

-The pension with the 50% increase (paid to people who have a disability of at least 80%), is 632.10 euros per month and 8,849.40 euros per year.

-If two people from the same family unit are beneficiaries of the same type of pension, the amount for each of them will be 358.19 euros per month and 5,014.66 euros per year.

-If three or more people from the same family unit are beneficiaries of the same type of pension, the amount for each of them will be 337.12 euros per month and 4,719.68 euros per year.
