The year 2022 began with a novelty aimed at improving the Minimum Vital Income: the entry into force of the child support supplement that grants cohabitation units amounts of 50, 70 or 100 euros per month for each minor child. A modification that can also have positive effects on family units that do not receive the Minimum Vital Income.
This supplement to help children was born with the idea of protecting the most vulnerable households, those with low incomes (those that allow access to the Minimum Vital Income) and in which there are minors, the most vulnerable sector of all. But the need to increase that coverage to a greater number of beneficiaries and households means that the collection of this supplement is allowed without the need to receive the Minimum Vital Income.
In order to collect this supplement even if the Minimum Vital Income is not collected, it is essential to meet certain requirements that refer to the level of income and assets of the person requesting it, as well as their family unit. In practice, it is not necessary to exceed certain limits that refer to income and assets.
As explained by Social Security, these limits vary depending on the type of family unit (its composition: number of adults + number of minors).
Income limits for the child support supplement
Regarding the income limit, a coefficient is applied, called the scale of increases. All households with incomes below these amounts, even without receiving the Minimum Vital Income, will be able to access the child support supplement:

The dynamics is similar for the wealth level. This scale of increases is applied to the pre-established levels for each cohabitation unit, also different in each family unit. If these limits are not exceeded, and provided that the income limits are also respected, the child support supplement may be collected even if the Minimum Vital Income is not charged:

Regarding the asset test limit, Social Security allows the income level to be multiplied by six for each type of family unit, applying in the same way that scale of increases of the previous parameters. It is mandatory not to exceed it to collect the child support supplement:

People who collect the Minimum Vital Income have been recognized ex officio (and managed) the collection of the child support supplement, but in these cases in which the IMV is not received, the interested citizen must request it through one of the following two ways:
-Using the online application form for the Minimum Vital Income. The citizen only needs an Internet connection to enter. It is not necessary to have a digital certificate () or Cl@ve ().
-Filling in the application form for the Minimum Vital Income, . To do it this way, the citizen only has to follow the steps indicated in the same form.
The amount of the child support supplement
-The complement is 100 euros per month for each child under three years of age.
-The supplement is 70 euros per month for each said between three and five years.
-The supplement is 50 euros per month for each child aged six or over and under 18.
