The subsidy for people over 52 years of age is one of the gallery of unemployment benefits managed by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), but it differs from the rest of its peers due to certain peculiarities that positively affect its beneficiaries in various fields. .
One of these fields is that of the contribution, since the beneficiaries of this benefit will be able to maintain their Social Security contributions and thus continue to contribute to their future retirement pension or other possible contingencies such as permanent disability or widowhood.
The one that during the collection of the subsidy for people over 52 years of age, its beneficiaries will contribute for 125% of the minimum base at each moment, so that if it were to increase, that contribution base would also increase in parallel.
The minimum contribution base in 2022 is 1,166.70 euros per month, so that 125% leaves the contribution base at 1,458.37 euros per month. The contribution for common contingencies will be applied to this amount, which is 28.3% and which is assumed by the SEPE at the time of payment of the subsidy for people over 52 years of age.
How long is quoted with the subsidy for people over 52 years of age
The contributions, as in the case of a salary or wages, are made by the payer, which in this case is the SEPE. These contributions will be maintained throughout the period of collection of the benefit, so that their beneficiaries are guaranteed the contribution in the last years prior to retirement, a very important aspect given the importance of those years in the requirements for access to the pension and the amount of it.
Thus, these contributions will last until that of the beneficiary of the subsidy (it is guaranteed until that moment) or, failing that, until this beneficiary gets a job and therefore stops receiving the benefit. At that moment he will contribute as a result of his work in the corresponding Social Security regime.
This is a special protection for a group, that of citizens over 52 years of age, who presumably have more difficulty finding a new job after remaining legally unemployed.
