Unique Centers is a . Launched in 2008, the franchise has more than 160 stores in Spain and in 7 other countries, located in shopping centers and strategic streets. In this same month of October, they launched their online store, according to what they themselves state, “with the purpose of reaching all their clients in a faster, more comfortable, simpler way and with more advantages.” The company defines itself as the leader in the laser and aesthetic hair removal sector in Spain.
While it is true that eCommerce is a great help for many businesses, large and small, it seems that the same thing is happening that happened in its day with the : you have to be there just because, whether it makes sense or not. And the truth is that the Centros Único online store has a lot to improve to be effective.
Centros Único: how to complicate the customer’s life
Perhaps the clients of laser hair removal centers live in a parallel reality with more dimensions than known. They may enjoy simply doing the same thing online that they could do in person much more easily. If that is not the case, the practical purpose of Centros Único’s online store is difficult to understand.
The purchase process is as follows: You register (it is mandatory) and then you buy a bonus for a number of waxing sessions, treatments, etc. We do not know if the offers that are present in the online store are exclusive to the Internet or are the same as in physical stores, although the shopping cart has a field in which you can insert a promotional code (which also makes it much easier to e-mail marketing and monitoring).
The problem is that hair removal is something that they have to do in person, which forces you to go to the nearest center, where you could buy the voucher exactly the same. So far, no advantage, except for the aforementioned possible promotional codes assuming that they can only be redeemed online, but no inconvenience either.
Later you have to print a confirmation e-mail that they send you, and that’s what you have to bring to the store to redeem it. They give you the option to show it on your mobile or tablet, yes. Also you have to phone to the store to book an appointment, because there is no online appointment booking system. And, big drawback that needs to be improved, the voucher is only valid for one storewhich you have to choose previously.
The Centros Único website has many missed marketing opportunities. From selling post-depilation cosmetic products to being able to share the offer on social networks, going through something as basic as an online appointment, that by itself would justify the existence of the online store. For the rest, the online store is correct in usability and justita in everything else.
It is quite spartan in content and the font sizes make it difficult to read (you have to think about presbyopia), in addition to sinning a certain “amateurism” in the way in which the web resizes the images or in the effects when you pass the mouse pointer. mouse over the products, showy but impractical. Centros Único’s website incorporates a blog section that redirects you to a free blog on Blogger, something that a leading company should take a little more care of.
Also, the Centros Único website should be more explicit in the personal data protection policy (not specified in detail in the legal notice, otherwise enormously extensive) and request the explicit acceptance of the client for the sending of commercial advertising, a mandatory rule that many companies still forget to include in their forms.
