We almost always forget about the function keys, or F, that we have at the top of the keyboard. And, in the same way, these keys are almost always assigned certain functions or common tasks that allow us to work much better when writing or reviewing a document in Word.

  • F1: help.
  • F2: move texts or graphics.
  • F4: repeat the last action.
  • F5: open find and replace.

Customize keyboard shortcuts in Word

With everything and with this, we must take into account that in these times we make use of a good number of different programs and platforms. Therefore, memorizing the shortcuts for each of them can be a somewhat complicated task. That is why, for certain occasions, as in the case of the popular word from Microsoft, we are going to offer you a solution.

We tell you this because there are applications that allow us, in addition to using their own keyboard shortcuts, to customize our own. In this way, we will be able to execute certain functions or tasks through those combinations that we are already used to or that are more familiar to us.

This is something that we can do in the well-known word processor, Word from the suite of productivity, Office. Therefore, below, we will show you the steps to achieve it. Thus, we can specify our own keyboard shortcuts to use in the program Microsoft, which, together with the use of Word templates, will make our work much easier. To do this, the first thing we will do is start the program as such and access the File menu option.

Once here, we will have to opt for Options, which will give us access to the configuration window of the Office program. Thus, in the left panel of the same, we are located in Personalize Options, where at the bottom, we see the Customize button. This is located next to Keyboard shortcuts.

Once we are located in this section, on the right we will see that two new selection boxes open. The first of them refers to the eyelashes that are part of the program, while the second shows the functions available in each of them. In this way, when we situate ourselves in any of them, we will see that the key combinations available by default. In this way we will already have the opportunity to add our personalized ones, so that, from that moment, we will be able to use them.

It is possible that at first this method seems a bit complex for us. customize these shortcuts of keyboard that we commented on. The main reason for all this is the enormous number of functions that we find in this section and that we can modify in Word. However, once we have done it in the first of the functions that interests us, we will see that the rest take much less time. But in this same window there is a drop-down list that we must take into account when making these changes.
