This is the importance of box 127 in the 2021-2022 Income: when do you have to fill it in

When making the draft of the 2021-2022 Income, all possible aspects must be taken into account to avoid errors, omissions or confusion in the declaration that could harm us, since otherwise we will be forced to make modifications in a statement already submitted to the Tax Agency.

The agency has reported on how to modify an Income statement that has already been filed and after observing errors that harm us in its result. A process in which box 127 of the declaration is key.

The Treasury explains that, in the case of errors or omissions that result in detriment to the taxpayer due to a return lower than the one that corresponds to him, for a result “to be paid” that should be less or a result “to be paid” that should be “to return’, said taxpayer has the right to rectify the self-assessment.

To start the process, it is necessary to enter the Income section of the Tax Agency, in which you have to click on ‘All procedures’, within ‘Outstanding procedures’. Once there, on that screen you must select the option ‘Modification of a tax return already filed’ in the ‘Income Services’ catalog.

The system will ask for your DNI or NIE if you access the draft with Cl@ve PIN () or reference number (from the previous year), or it will give you the option of entering with a digital certificate () or electronic DNI. When accessing, you must choose the ‘Modify declaration’ option and then click on ‘Modify declared presentation’. The draft will appear there, in which you must make it clear in which modality it is done (individual or joint).

At that time you will have to fill in box 127 of the return, the one corresponding to the rectification of self-assessment. The heading explains that it is the one that applies when there is a higher amount to be returned or a lower amount to be paid, but it is also useful for cases in which the result of the declaration does not change after the changes.

Selecting this option will open a window for the taxpayer in which they must confirm the rectification of the self-assessment. At that time, the receipt number or the amount to be deposited or returned from the previous statement will appear loaded. The taxpayer must enter the IBAN number of the account in which the money should be deposited in the event of a refund.

How to make changes to the tax return already filed

After that, the taxpayer may proceed to introduce the necessary changes to rectify the previously submitted return. This can be done by searching for boxes or concepts in the search engine of the top menu and in the ‘Sections’ section, as well as browsing the draft with the arrows also arranged in that top sector.

Once the changes have been introduced, the taxpayer must access the ‘Summary of declarations’ to verify that these changes have been effectively reflected and consult their impact on the result of the declaration. Once this step is completed, the only thing left for the taxpayer to do is submit the return, now completed correctly.
