If you are working with the free version of the plugin, it does not have integration with the k2 gallery tab and you will have to put the call code of the images manually in the articles.
Check the following link.
For example, once the plugin is activated you can use a syntax like within the content of your article:
{gallery}images/folder{/gallery}
where images/folder is the folder where you have your images, that will create the thumbnails of the images found in this folder.
