How to use the online color code palette or selector?
The tool is quite easy to use. What you should do is follow the steps that we explain below:
- Step 1: How can you see the color code tool it has two parts; the color chart, which is the largest, and the color bar that shows the entire palette of available colors.
- Step 2: What you should do is define a color in the vertical bar next to the shade box.
- Step 3: Once you have the color, you must define its hue in the box on the right.
- Step 4: At the bottom of the tool, you will see HEX, RGB, HSV and HSL codes corresponding to the selected color. Easy right?
Types of color codes, uses, meanings and how to use them
Now that you know how to use the online color code selector toolit is time for you to learn how and when to use the different codes that it provides you for the different programs, websites, etc.
HTML is the most used language in the creation of websites. When we are designing a website, we cannot determine the colors only with the name, but rather express them in their corresponding HTML code, that is when our tool is useful since it provides you with this information to make your work easier. You just need to get the HTML code corresponding to the chosen color and copy and paste it on your website.
Colors with hexadecimal (HEX) codes
The HEX or hexadecimal color codes, are made up of hexadecimal serials, which allow them to be identified in a simpler and more direct way. However, this code is sometimes less used since it does not allow defining the opacity of the color, so although it is intended to be used in HTML and CSS programmingmost of the time it is limited to being present in editing programs such as Photoshop or Illustrator to define colors to which the opacity can be edited later or add effects and textures.
Colors with decimal code (RGB)
The decimal RGB color codes are those that are expressed indicating the intensity of each of the primary colors in its composition. These colors are the red, green and blueand in this nomenclature they allow a concentration of 256 levelsallowing a palette of more than 16,777,216 of different colors.
The resulting code for each color indicates the concentration of each of the primary colors to obtain it, corresponding:
- The first number to the color red.
- The second to green.
- The third number to the blue color.
For example, the color “electric green” is represented by the numbers 0, 255, 0, indicating that it has a concentration of 0 for red, 255 levels for green, and 0 for blue.
The chosen color code can be add an extra number at the end to specify the opacity or transparency ranging from 0 to 1. In other words, if you add a 0.5 to the electric green color at the end, you would be indicating that this color enters an opacity of 50%, leaving its code as follows; 0, 255, 0, 0.5. This format is known as RGBA.
The HSV color model (matrix, saturation and value for its translation from English) is used mostly for choosing the colors of the applications, since they are obtained more precise tonalities. In this model, the matrix is determined, which defines a value in degrees (°) of the color within a palette of circular colors, then its saturation and finally its brightness or value. Matrix supports a value from 0° to 360°, while Saturation and Brightness support percentage values between 0% and 100%.
As with the RGB model, three values are determined:
- Being first for the matrix
- The second for saturation
- The third for the shine
