The manufactured home industry has boomed during the pandemic because it offers a faster and perhaps cheaper alternative to owning a property in a rural setting. This is precisely the objective of the ‘Tiny Home’ project, which offers small prefabricated houses to return to the countryside.

This work is a proposal from the Madrid-based architecture studio Delavegacanolasso and Ricardo de Zulueta, a strategic consultant in New York, who have put up for sale a 32-square-meter prefabricated shelter for weekend getaways or a 20-square-meter office. However, the study gives the possibility of designing new options by adding several modules: “Starting with the tiny refuge module (34m2) 2 or 3 modules can be joined creating larger spaces, 68m2 or 102m2”. Its price starts at 28,000 euros.

This novelty is not the only one of its kind that can be found on the market, the prefabricated house sector has a wide range of small properties at affordable prices that can be used to disconnect on weekends in a rural environment.

Liten, the prefabricated house that leaves the Juan Roig Shuttle

Liten is a 30 square meter prefabricated house that can be installed practically anywhere with minimal impact on its surroundings. However, it is designed to offer a quick and sustainable housing solution to rural tourism. Its price amounts to 39,000 euros.

It is a cabin that is built in the factory, transported to the desired location and installed on the same day. In addition, it is built using resistant and quality materials, such as wood, chosen for being the best solution for its use with the least possible impact on the environment. Regarding the design, the company explains that Liten is customizable, choosing between different finishes to adapt to the environment and to the preferences of its buyer.

The ‘refuge for the weekend’ of the Ágora Arquitectura studio

This small 40 m2 prefabricated house, as its name suggests, is designed to serve as a refuge for a weekend getaway. On sale for 30,000 euros, it can be installed in any rural environment, since it is transported by truck.

The refuge has three different areas. At the front is the living room and kitchen that open to the outside thanks to sliding glass doors. The back, with two spaces for sleeping and one for storage, is the most intimate area of ​​the house. And, in the intermediate part, there is a bar for passing services, providing the whole with the comfort of some adjacent bungalows.

‘Paloma’, the mini prefabricated house model of the Ladislao Group

The Asturian group Ladislao designs and manufactures this mini house out of wood. It has a complete bathroom and shower, kitchen with 2 plates, smoke extractor, fridge, washing machine and microwave. It has a living room with television and two bedrooms in two mezzanines, one opposite the other, with access by stairs, one mobile and one fixed. The price with VAT amounts to 44,165 euros.

Village C5, the mini prefabricated house from Home Center

The Catalan company Homer Center has specialized since 2009 in the sale of prefabricated houses made of wood and concrete. Thus, you can find a wide catalog of models. In the small field, the Village C5 option stands out, which is sold for 26,000 euros. It is a 27-square-meter house with two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a multipurpose area, with a kitchen, dining room, and living room.

Alucasa’s mobile prefabricated homes

These last two options are made of wood and stand out for their traditional design.

The Manchegan company Daype is specialized in wooden houses and defends that they are the most suitable for living in a natural and different environment. “People who live in these homes manage to feel more comfortable than in conventional homes, because economic, ecological and biological advantages are achieved,” explains the company. An interesting option in its catalog is the ‘Marta’ option, measuring 93 square metres, which is sold for 49,990 euros plus VAT.

Another interesting Daype model is baptized as Vitoria. With 68 square meters and 34 square meters of terrace, this wooden house is sold for 47,900 euros plus VAT and surprises with its Victorian style. It has 2 bedrooms, bathroom and living room-kitchen.
