Both links go to the cart page, so this should not be the problem.
Doing tests with the Epimiteo pack and the latest version 3.0.16 of Virtuemart I don’t see the problem you mention happening to me: although initially the wheel that you see in your screenshot appears, the pop-up window is immediately displayed indicating that the product has been added To the car.
In your case, this must be due to a conflict in your Joomla’s javascript libraries, possibly caused by an extension that you have added to the web. The problem could also be a misconfiguration of Virtuemart.
Go to Components->Virtuemart->Configuration, click on the Templates tab and verify that the section Activate CSS and Javascripts styles is as in the following screenshot:
