Yes, it is valid, but you have to be very careful because you are making many changes to both files and the database.
As advice, first clone the web and you will make those modifications first in that clone and if everything works fine, perform the same steps on the production web.
Note: make a copy of the files that you are going to modify and of your BD in case you have to leave it as it was.
