All the flavor of the mountains of Toledo in a bottle: NOC Tinto 2018

Bodegas NOC values one of the treasures produced by its thousands of hectares in Castilla-La Mancha. It is a NOC Tinto, made with Tempranillo and one of the winery’s high-end wines. The deep knowledge of these lands and the excellence of the team have made it possible to create this complete and complex wine. Something in which the sublime team behind this wine project led by the prestigious winemaker Ignacio de Miguel, together with the winemaker Elena Rincón, who is also technical director, has had a lot to do with it. Bodegas NOC presents this red wine belonging to the IGP Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla, which comes from the vineyard in the Toledo town of Manzaneque. With an area of more than nine hectares, the plot is at an altitude of 750 meters, which gives the wines unique nuances, in addition to the special characteristics of the sandy and limestone soils.

The drive and environmental awareness of businessman Carlos Galdón, president and CEO of Avanzalia Solar, are responsible for the creation of Bodegas NOC. The objective is to demonstrate that making fresh, elegant, subtle wines of extraordinary quality in a warm area such as the Montes de Toledo is possible. And it is thanks to the altitude of its vineyard —one of the highest in the region—, the particular conditions and the work of a first-class team.

It is a privileged location, geologically one of the oldest areas of the peninsula, with gravel and clay soils and very low PH that provide acidity, freshness and a salty point to the wine, distinguishing it from other productions in the same autonomous community, where the PH are very high due to the excess of sun and the alkalinity of the terrain. The continental climate, with strong thermal contrasts and much more humid than that of neighboring regions, and the altitude of the vineyard –850 m above sea level– also favor the uniqueness of all NOC references.

All the flavor of the earth

NOC Tinto is one of the winery’s flagships. Obtained from the Tempranillo red variety, it is the result of a minimum aging period of 16 months in French oak barrels. Prior to that magical moment, the grapes are harvested at night to ensure that they arrive at the winery with the highest quality and, after that, a manual selection and destemming is carried out. Pre-fermentative maceration is carried out cold and, once the alcoholic fermentation has finished, the wine is racked into concrete jars and undergoes malolactic fermentation.

An intense cherry red color is the presentation letter of NOC Tinto, typical of the Tempranillo grape dye. With an aroma of ripe red fruits with spicy and smoky notes, this wine is balanced, elegant, meaty, fruity on the palate and with a long finish. It is ideal to combine with red meat and game, stews, sausages and cured cheeses. NOC Tinto comes from the oldest vineyard in the winery. «This vineyard is unique for us and, for this reason, we make this single-plot wine. The result is a very fruity and fresh product, almost an unrecognizable Tempranillo from the La Mancha area. In addition, we age it with new barrels and we try to play with the barrel-fruit balance”, points out the team of oenologists.
