Actions after migrating WordPress with a plugin

Once the migration is finished, which is the process of moving files and the database and restoring them in the new Hosting, there are a series of tasks that must be carried out and that are important to have the peace of mind that everything is correct, functional and ready to be shown to the world in the new digital home.

In your “destination” Hosting, where you have migrated your WordPress, check that the domain is added and that the DNS points to the Hosting where you now have the website. You can check them from typing your domain name and clicking Search having the box next to it with NS selected.

If you have made the DNS change recently (minutes) you will have to wait for the change to spread over the Internet, something that can take minutes, hours or “several hours”. If you have doubts, consult your Support.

In the migrated WordPress dashboard (let’s call it “new”) go to Settings > Permalinks and check that it is configured as input name.

Even if you haven’t made any changes to these settings, click Save Changes so that the permalinks are readjusted.

go to Media and check that the usual images of your website are there. Access the front panel and check Entries (post), the operation of the top menu and the “footer” if you have “Privacy Policy” menus, etc.

Carry out a somewhat exhaustive navigation through the site to verify that what you have transferred is correct and that the site works as it did before the transfer or better, faster!

In the “previous” Hosting, from which you migrated the web, after one or two days, if in “destination” everything works fine for you, you can then delete the webnever leave it active in a previous Hosting, since you do not know if the Hosting will be eliminated or the web will be canceled, since if it is not done, you could be indexing those contents with some other domain, subdomain or temporary URL.
