People receive revenue from viewing ads through BAT, which is a cryptocurrency, also known as an ERC20 utility token.
Brave’s ad network was launched in 2019, where users opt to view anonymous ads to get paid with BAT afterwards. The key note here is that this feature is optional and people can enable the ad blocking feature of Brave Browser.

How fast is Brave Browser?
The main reason why Brave Browser outperforms Firefox and Chrome browsing speed is ad blockers.
