BuddyPress Course #7: BuddyBoss – .com

In today’s class we are going to dress up our BuddyPress installation with BuddyBoss, a theme prepared and optimized for BuddyPress.

7 – Themes for BuddyPress

BuddyPress is a plugin. That means that in theory, it works with any theme. And in fact, it is so. But that’s not to say it looks “pretty.” It will not look bad either, but in any case it is not optimized.

Today we will see where to get optimized themes for BuddyPress, and we will install and configure BuddyBoss, a great theme for BuddyPress that you can find on the intranet for download. Let’s go there:

Well, now we have it! Our fully dressed BuddyPress, ready for action. As you can see, now it looks much more optimized to be used as a social network. Today’s homework is as follows:

  • Try some themes from the repository optimized for BuddyPress.
  • Install some and play with it.
  • Install and activate BuddyBoss.
  • Make the changes you think are appropriate in the customizer.
  • Create some menus and widgets.

At this point, we already have BuddyPress up and running, and with a theme that makes it look good. From now on we are going to focus on finishing polishing details: Menus, special widgets and “extra” plugins that will give our social network a more professional touch. Until then… Let’s practice! 🙂
