Retrieve missing toolbar extensions

Do you remember adding a bunch of new me and suddenly the icons no longer appear in the Chrome toolbar?

This often happens when an extension crashes or is disabled for some other reason. You can add these extensions to the taskbar again by enabling the extension.

To do this:

1. Select the three dots at the top right to open the Chrome menu, select Setting and then select extensions .

2. Find and enable the extension that is missing from your Chrome toolbar.

If the extension is working properly, you should now see its icon in the top toolbar of Chrome.

Hopefully your extensions are working properly now.

Repair or repair missing extensions

If the extension icon doesn’t appear when it’s enabled, there may be other reasons.

The first could be that the extension itself doesn’t have a toolbar icon. Many extensions have in the background that do not require a user interface. Check the extension’s website for more information if you’re not sure if your extension should have a toolbar icon.

Repair a damaged extension

If the extension is corrupted, there is a potentially quick way to fix it.

1. Open the Extensions window using the same process as above.

2. Scroll down to the extension that isn’t working and see if you see a button Repair .

3. You will see a permissions window appear requesting access to Chrome data.

4. Select Repair and then approve all permission requests.

The repair button appears when the extension tries to start but cannot locate the necessary files to run. If you don’t see this button, the extension may be corrupted or outdated and the extension itself may not have detected it.

If this is the case, you can try to reinstall the extension.

Reinstall a damaged extension

Reinstalling an extension ensures that you have the latest version, and it will replace all extension files and make sure any damaged files are replaced. This should fix any extension issues you have.

1. Use the above process to access the Chrome Store page for the extension. At the top of that page, select the button Remove from Chrome .

2. You will see a popup in Chrome confirming that you want to remove the extension. Select Remove to confirm.

Fix All Missing Chrome Toolbars

One of the most common causes of missing toolbars in Chrome is when users accidentally switch Chrome to full screen mode.

In full screen mode, the main toolbar with the URL field, extensions, and menu disappear. If the bookmarks bar is disabled, you won’t see any toolbars.

The solution for this is simple.

In Windows, all you have to do is press F11 . This will return Chrome to normal mode and all the toolbars will appear.

On Mac, select and hold the top left corner of the browser. This will bring up the menu bar. Then simply select the green circle to return Chrome to normal mode.
