In this case I see that the image will change if you select the color, I don’t know if it is some configuration that was added by default in your store, however it is not common that you cannot change the image of the gallery of the store, so it is possible Some plugin is causing the conflict, to check it, try deactivating all the plugins and leaving the ones required by your store and website, after that check if your gallery works, if so, activate one by one while you test which one causes the conflict.
