ITP Aero returns to ‘black numbers’ after being acquired by Bain, JB and Sapa

ITP Aero closed 2021 with a net profit of 67 million euros and income of 915 million, after losses of 13 million and business of 735 million, 25% less than in 2019, of the previous year.

The aeronautical manufacturer thus returned to profit after a disastrous 2020 due to the pandemic, in the year it changed ownership: to the consortium formed by Bain Capital, JB Capital (Javier Botín’s fund) and the Gipuzkoan Sapa, in September.

The results, which respond to a more favorable macro environment, include both the ITP Aero business and the recurring business generated by the Hucknall (United Kingdom) plant, acquired during 2021. The manufacturer also highlights the defense business, which “continues stable and with a positive trend”.

ITP Aero ended the year with 4,175 workers. The group signed contracts with Pratt & Whitney Canada in 2021 and continued to advance in the FCAS program, future combat air system, as leader of the engine technology pillar in Spain.

ITP Aero also made progress towards more sustainable aviation by being The company also joined the UN’s Race to Zero initiative, pledging to be carbon neutral by 2050.

During 2021, ITP Aero achieved important technological milestones, such as advances in the Rolls-Royce UltraFan demonstrator engine program (delivering the TBH -Tail Bearing House-, a key component, manufactured using 3D printing).

ITP Aero’s activities include design, research and development, manufacturing and casting, assembly and testing of aeronautical modules and engines. It also provides maintenance services (MRO) for a wide range of engines for regional airlines, business aviation, helicopters, industrial and defense applications.
