Joomla global configuration in Spanish

Main options of the global configuration of the CMS Joomla, in Spanish.

Up to this point we have learned just how to install the CMS. We are only at the beginning of this path that will help us make professional self-managed websites, almost effortlessly. In the previous article we tested the installation and changed the data of the administration user. for added security. Knowing that Joomla already works in our system, in this next article we are going to see the different configuration options of this interesting CMS.

Let’s start with the global configuration tab that we have in the control panel.

Within this tab we have three tabs (site, system, server) that we are going to see step by step.

Joomla Configuration: Site Tab

The site tab has three areas, one for site settings, one for metadata, and one for SEO.

In the site configuration we can modify, for example, the name of the site, the number of items per page, the number of news items to display, the default WYSIWYG editor, and well, something important if we still do not have the site ready and it is the option to display on the cover a message informing that the site is under construction.

Within the parameters of the metadata we can modify the description of the site and its keywords, as well as decide whether or not to show said metadata.

And already in the SEO area we can decide if we want friendly urls, use apache in mod_rewrite mode or if we add suffixes to the urls.

Joomla Configuration: System Tab

This tab is somewhat more complicated and has more technical parameters but we’ll give you a rundown at least for the most important elements.

We start with the system configuration area, where we can see and change the registry path, activate web services or select a help server.

Then we have the user parameters area where we can allow user registration, their level of access, the need or not to activate the account.

In the multimillion configuration zone we can list the allowed extensions, the maximum size of the files, the paths of the images, etc. We can also restrict the upload of files and enable flash upload.

In another zone we can activate or not the debugging of both system and language errors.

In the cache configuration we can enable it or not and give it a time.

And finally we have the configuration of the session in which we give a maximum time for each session and decide who manages these sessions, and it can be the database or nothing.

Joomla Configuration: Server Tab

In this section we can find the possibility of managing the path of the temp folder, the possibility of compressing the pages so that they occupy less space on the server, of changing the time zone and of enabling the error report among other things.

We can also enter the data of the ftp, the database and the mail server.

With this we have seen all the Joomla global configuration options. In the next article that we will publish soon in .com we will see the template management option, one of the most attractive options, where we can design our website, as well as edit the predefined templates.
