The div that the search engine paints in top_search is:
Content only visible to registered users
You should be able to locate this block in your header.tpl file to move it to another part of the header where you want it to display.
It’s not ideal, that’s what the hooks are for, to change the position modules by changing the hook in your theme, from the backoffice.
The CSS styles for this search module are usually found in the modules/blocksearch/blocksearch.css file.
And the CSS class is usually #search_block_top
Of course, if you plan to apply changes to the theme’s code, make a backup first, because you can demote the theme if you’re not sure what to change.
