MRW opens a logistics platform with 5,600 square meters in Valencia

The express courier company MRW has opened a new logistics platform in the El Oliveral industrial estate, in Ribarroja del Turia. The 5,600-square-meter warehouse has a theoretical capacity for more than 80,000 packages, has 21 docks for vans and 10 for trailer trucks, and is equipped with advanced technology, according to the firm.

“This new logistics platform will increase the operational capacity of MRW in the Valencian Community and will facilitate the management and distribution of packages thanks to technological innovation that allows handling up to 10,000 packages per hour. In addition, the platform has allowed us to generate an increase in 25% in jobs in the Valencia area”, explains Óscar Álvarez, Director of Operations at MRW.

The opening of this new warehouse in Valencia is part of the 60 million euro investment plan for the expansion and renovation of the logistics infrastructure and technological improvement of the operational and support area. The 2016-2020 Strategic Plan plans to renew 80% of the operational logistics platforms and incorporate new locations.

During the past year, the company began work on this new logistics plant in Valencia and moved another six to larger and more technologically advanced spaces. In 2016, two new warehouses were opened and two other floors were renovated. In total, MRW adds 56 logistics platforms in Spain and Portugal.

“With this investment plan, in general, and with the Ribarroja del Turia platform, in particular, we aim to increase the practical capacity of our franchise network, introduce better traceability of the service, the search for efficiency and, especially, improve the quality of the service offered to the client”, affirms Álvarez.

In addition, with the aim of continuing to lead technological change in the sector, MRW has a biannual budget to invest in technology of 40 million euros. This investment has already begun with the implementation of automated operational improvements in different group ships.

MRW expects this Strategic Plan to consolidate the company’s growth, which has been between 15% and 25% in recent years. MRW makes 62 million shipments annually.
