”No doubt”: Defense links the death of the 35-year-old soldier with the AstraZeneca vaccine

Defense Minister Margarita Robles has expressed that “there is no doubt” in the link between the death last week of a 35-year-old soldier with the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Robles pointed out this Monday at a press conference that the medical reports conclude that the , in the Aizoáin barracks, in Navarra, was a consequence of the administration of the vaccine against covid-19 from the Anglo-Swedish firm.

“In the medical reports that they have given us, there seems to be no doubt that the consequence was the administration of the vaccine,” the minister indicated.

Robles visited the 66th Mountain Hunters “America” Infantry Regiment this Monday, to which Corporal Francisco Pérez, the 35-year-old victim, who died on April 23 due to thrombosis, days after being vaccinated with AstraZeneca, belonged.

The young man was vaccinated on April 7. The Pharmacovigilance Center of the Department of Health of the Government of Navarra received the communication of an “adverse effect with a fatal outcome” after the corporal suffered the effects and entered a situation of brain death just a few days later.

The soldier belonged to the Pamplona Mountain Hunters America 66 Infantry Regiment.

As reported by the Spanish Troop and Sailor Association (ATME), the soldier suffered severe headaches and acute discomfort, forcing him to go to the first-aid service and later to the hospital emergency services.

A week later he had to be admitted, and from there his situation worsened very quickly, until he died due to thrombosis.

“It is important that people get vaccinated”

Robles later told the media that the soldier’s death “has been very hard news”, but, at the same time, he recalled that “it is important that people get vaccinated”.
