Recover deleted MySQL database –

Although it is not a common problem, it happens that sometimes we find websites that do not connect to the database and return error messages through the browser, indicating that the possible cause is in the database.

Either by not having granted the privileges to the database user or by having discordant connection data between the web application (Joomla, PrestaShop, WordPress, etc.) and the corresponding database, the truth is that the website does not load and we are not clear about the problem.

In this scenario we pose as the cause of the problem having deleted by mistake or ignorance the database in usewhich brings us to the question How can I recover a deleted database?.

There are several actions to take to correct it:

  • Restore the database from a backup downloaded from the hosting panel (WePanel) via Files, endorsements.
  • Restore a database backup using the tool cPremote Backup Management (WePanel).
  • Restore a database backup what like users/customers we have done previously.

All these actions have in common the task “restore” and as a scenario the WePanel hosting panel, and how we carry out the process will depend on the solution to the problem.

One of the options available in the WePanel hosting panel, in the section Records, endorsements is the availability of backup copies of all the databases that we have created in the hosting, so that from each of them we can download the last available copy (it will depend on the cadence of backup copies that the server performs) for later to create “again” the database “removed” and import the downloaded database copy to the newly created database, from phpMyAdmin.

It is just as important to recover a database as it is to be clear about the process to follow to import or export databases or create a database “new” In the event that we need to recover an accidentally deleted one.

Is your database larger than 55MB and you have problems importing it from phpMyAdmin? Check it out if it is useful to you.

From the File section, “Backups” From WePanel it is possible to download independent backup copies of each database created.

In section Partial Backup, “Download a Backup of a MySQL Database” we can find the different backup copies of the available databases, in compressed format .sql.gzor recently deleted (before the last server backup).

Through the tool cPremote Backup Managementavailable in WePanel, Files, it is possible to restore a certain database within the available backups (daily, weekly, monthly).

Any of the indicated options will result in the recovery of the database, taking into account that in the case of downloading a backup copy of the database, it will have to (ideally have the same database name database, the same database user and the same password, data that can be obtained from the configuration file of the affected script or CMS) before being able to download the backup data.

To avoid finding yourself in a situation like the one described “losing a database by deleting it” and that your website is inoperative, we recommend you always have a backup policy apart from the copies that the server makes daily, weekly or monthly.
